Maryport’s literary festival smooches off on Friday 26th of November, at 7.30pm at the Senhouse Roman Museum with an evening of poetry and prizes. The first session will feature readings by guest poets, including Kathleen Jones (who  judged the poetry competitions), Angela Locke, Mary Robinson, Grevel Lindop and Geraldine Green. After a short break an open mic event will take place. Wannabe readers are invited to see me (Mike Smith) early on in the evening to get their names down on the list!

This is the third year of the Maryport literary festival, and the event is getting bigger and better.   Readers later in the weekend include Keith Richardson, Josephine Dickinson, Chris Pilling, Catherine Kay, Micael Baron, Eric Robson and Helen Mort.

The Maryport Writers group is to be congratulated on establishing this festival as one of the most interesting and varied literary bean feasts in the county! The theme this year, if you didn’t get it from the title, is lurrv, erotic, romantic, and otherwise! For full details check out the Senhouse website
